CETT Fundació, is a core part of the CETT-UB, university centre for tourism, hospitality and gastronomy. It works towards sustainable development in the sector and for the generation and transmission of know-how around these areas. Beyond recognising the innovation of our Amenities which are 100% Biodegradable, we provide financial resources and focus on acceleration through a mentoring scheme for professionals.
The winning project of the XVII edition has been BioDrops, driven by our founding partners Sergi Ferran and Aitor Susaño. Their proposal aims to solve one of the great social challenges: reducing the use of plastics.
BioDrops designs and markets organic cosmetic packaging to offer an ecological alternative to the welcome products offered by hotels, rural accommodations, and tourist apartments. Ferran and Susaño state that the recognition is “a great opportunity to grow our project and introduce a product that we believe will be a revolution in the world of amenities.“
On behalf of CETT Foundation, its president, Narciso Coll, emphasizes: “We are very happy that, in such complex and uncertain times, entrepreneurial initiatives continue to emerge. This is a demonstration of people’s drive and the value and possibilities offered by one of the sectors most affected by the pandemic, the tourism sector. I want to congratulate the winners, but also the rest of the finalists, because all the projects have been very interesting. We must also thank all the members of the jury and the institutions they represent, as they help us improve these awards.”
Dr. Enric López C., Director of Entrepreneurship at CETT Foundation, adds: “The winning projects share common elements: innovative ideas, mature teams, scalable projects, and a link to sustainability. Without a doubt, this is a very good starting point because our CETT Foundation mentors can help and accelerate them.“
Innovation and the contribution of new perspectives and business models in the sector are two of the factors that the jury has considered in awarding the prizes, which are sponsored by the Diputación de Barcelona and supported and collaborated on by CETT and Ágora BCN, International University Residence.
